Harry Fellows is a New York City-based photographer. Early in life, he explored numerous artistic mediums, from photography and intaglio printmaking, to glass blowing and graffiti art. He lived in Colorado and California, pursuing his artistic education through both self-teaching and academic institutions, and fulfilling his passion to create. Harry is formally trained in large and medium format film photography. He has lived and worked all over the United States and the world but has focused in commercial photography in NYC since 2003. At the heart of Harry’s process is an attention to raw emotion, meticulous technical skill, and the production of uncanny images that border on the hyperreal, demanding a second look.
His work pushes against the boundaries of expected norms and compels his viewers to remain engaged and inquisitive. Riding the wave of the digital image revolution, Harry has evolved with the quickly changing world of image making. In 2014, he became Director of Photography at the Taylor James NYC office, a global creative production company. Working closely with a creative team of art directors, retouchers, and CGI artists, Harry has developed a personalized process for making highly composited images and is excited to create campaigns that have multiple uses across media channels. His generalist approach, and keen eye for composition and human condition, makes his photographic style adaptable to multiple areas of industry. Harry’s foundational skills in traditional photography and creative lighting are balanced by his experience with advertising agencies’ large-scale productions, and his thorough knowledge of digital post-production. Harry’s work is driven by his diligent pursuit for beauty, his limitless imagination, and his unceasing wonder for the world in which we live.
